That You May Know – Part Two | Can We Really Know Truth? Faith, Reason & the Christian Worldview

Can we really know what is true? In a culture shaped by postmodernism, relativism, materialism, and scientism, many people claim that truth is subjective or that science alone can explain reality. But is that claim itself true?

In Part Two of That You May Know, we continue exploring one of Christianity's most important questions: How can we know what we know? This sermon examines the foundations of knowledge, truth, faith, and reason while exposing the assumptions behind today's dominant worldviews. You'll discover why Christians don't believe blindly but have compelling reasons to trust God's revelation, the historical reliability of Scripture, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This message explains why knowledge is more than opinion or emotion. We'll explore the classic understanding of justified true belief, discuss the difference between belief and knowledge, examine how our culture often confuses feelings with truth, and learn why God consistently provides reasons for people to trust Him before calling them to faith and obedience.

We'll also look at the influence of scientism, materialism, and postmodern thought, why these philosophies struggle to explain reality, morality, beauty, purpose, and meaning, and why the Christian worldview provides a more coherent explanation of the world we experience.

Ultimately, this sermon points us to Jesus Christ—the greatest evidence of God's self-revelation—and reminds believers to be prepared to give a thoughtful, gracious, and biblical reason for the hope we have.
